Salty Church
In this Vision Series from the fall of 2024, we explore what it means to be a church where Jesus cannot be ignored - a salty church.
We set out to explore 5 essential traits of true disciples of Jesus:
In week 1, we focus on the trait that Jesus is first of our loves. A true disciple prioritizes Jesus above all other loves, making Him the ultimate priority in our lives. We discuss what it means to have rightly ordered loves and how putting Jesus first transforms us.
Week 2, we explore being fearless in generosity. A salty Christian gives freely of their resources, time, and talents without hesitation. We will look at biblical examples that encourage us to be generous, reflecting God's heart.
Week 3, we focus on the freedom to serve. True disciples are liberated from self-centeredness and are free to serve others. We will discuss how serving others is a natural outflow of our love for Jesus and how it impacts our communities.
The 4th week will examine being fishers of men. A salty church is committed to evangelism and making disciples. We will explore Jesus' call to be fishers of men and how we can actively share the gospel, build relationships, and invite others to see Jesus.
In the 5th and final week, we focus on being faithful in prayer. Prayer is the lifeline of a disciple. We will discuss the importance of being faithful in prayer, both individually and corporately, and how it deepens our relationship with God and empowers us to live out our faith.
Throughout this series, we will look at the words and life of Jesus to understand what it means to be a true disciple. By embodying these five key traits — putting Jesus first in our loves, being fearless in generosity, having the freedom to serve, being fishers of men, and being faithful in prayer — we can become a church where Jesus cannot be ignored. Let us commit to becoming salty Christians, making it harder for the world to overlook the transformative power of Jesus Christ in our lives.
