1 Peter 4:12-13
"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed."
The sky is dark and the waves are breaking over your head. Your perception is bleak and you feel so alone with the huge task of making it through the next 24 hours. You fail time and time again to hold to fast to the truth and then you cry out, "How much more can I take?”
And then Jesus appears. He wakes you up at 2am for weeks on end inviting you to commune with him. You make excuses: “I’ll be exhausted at work tomorrow if I get up.” Then He shows you Matthew 4:4, for you are not sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. He shows you Hebrews 1:2, that all things are His and you have what you have because He gave it to you. Let go! Therefore Matthew 14:27 becomes as true as if it came from his very mouth, “Take heart, it is I. Do not be afraid.” Steward your life and what He has given to you with utmost care, for he loves you!
In conclusion, walking on water is not impossible for the God who sustains the water, you and everything you see and do not see. Thus, we cannot limit Jesus to our understanding; we need help, we need the Holy Spirit, we need brothers and sisters, we need community and most importantly we need His word to encourage us as we walk on water through a life-threatening storm.
The Lord has led me through an extremely difficult season over the past couple years, resulting in a broken marriage and struggling to make it as a single dad. Yet, I can attest to the grace of the Lord Jesus that he has been enough through it all. I am grateful for the ways that God has used CAB to encourage and support me even to the present day. May His glory be revealed through you.
